I was up there more than a month ago. After several miles the road was covered in snow, with a pair of tire tracks worn down to the pavement. The road was no longer drivable after 8 miles, at the first official campground. Icy, slippery snow.
I'd love to know what it's like now - how far you can drive in an average clearance car, what the snow is like there. I called the Marblemount Wilderness Information Center, but they haven't opened for the season yet.

Oh man. I'm wanting to ski from the upper closure to the trailhead. Sounds like I better get busy before that last section melts!
Thanks for the update Walkin' Fool! 🙂

Has anyone been here since mid-March 2020? I wonder how the road is now?

Any idea where or if the road is gated?

I went 6-8 miles up the road April 23. No sign of gates being closed or snow. I wasn't very far up but it was beautiful. We hiked up toward Monogram lake for 2 miles and ran out of time. We saw no snow even after the elevation gain.

Does anyone have recent info on the Cascade River Road? Is it gated anywhere?
Thanks.

This time of year the closure tends to be a gate at mile 18, about 3 miles from the end of the road. Due to the pandemic, all bets are off.
Last time I tried calling the WIC for info there was no answer, but that may have changed in the last month or so.

Was there May 27th. A couple ecology blocks and a cable were erected at the Park boundary. 4 cars parked there probably climbing Eldorado. One pickup had been broken into by a bear. Saw and spoke with a park ranger out there. 5.5 miles to the Cascade Pass trailhead.

The NPS website now says it is blocked 2 miles from the Pass trailhead. Anyone been up the trail yet this season? Nothing new on WTA yet. Want to head that way next week.

Did you ever make it? I was thinking of heading that way myself, seeing if I could ride a bike past the closure. I hear it's 5.5 miles from the trailhead?
