Anyone have a recommendation for inexpensive online meeting software? Zoom will not work for us since some participants are prohibited by their work place from using zoom due to security issues. We have been using Join.me but we are having trouble passing screen control. The event at issue is a quarterly meeting hosted by a non-profit. They have some money but not a ton. Any ideas? Edit: Must have screen sharing and recording. Chat would be nice but not essential

FWIW: The NYC Department of Education stopped using Zoom after class sessions being Zoombombed with racist garbage. The NYC DOE is now using Microsoft Teams. https://www.uft.org/sites/default/files/attachments/doe-guidance-videoconferencing.pdf

We always used private networks very secure but not cheap.

We use Teams as well. But I think that's just for Office 365 users, so you'd be in the same boat as with Zoom. If they can't use it, they can't use it. But frankly, the old way of teleconferences works too. There's not a lot of benefit to seeing quick, random shots of everyone's face flashing here and there if what you're interested in is what they're saying. With Teams, you're limited to I think 4 faces, and that changes depending on who talks the most. Just because everyone and their mother is suddenly using platforms that show faces doesn't mean it's better. But I can see where people might wonder "WTF is up with these people who don't have talking, moving, pictures." So we're full circle on that, seems like.

The meeting at issue is for people interested in promoting U.S. National Grid. Never more than 50 attendees. And we only meet once per quarter. We have no interest in seeing faces. The meeting software needs to show either the moderator's screen or someone else's screen as they give a presentation.

We do screen sharing in Teams meetings every day.

I meet with a couple of groups on Zoom. We got ‘photobombed’, too. Then we started using password protected log-ins - the organizer or whoever runs the meeting - can easily set those passwords up. Since then, no problems. You have the option of having just audio or video and audio. One nice Zoom feature - if you have members without enough bandwidth or without any internet access - you can set it up for phone call-ins. I was very skeptical of Zoom at first, but things are OK, now.

Used Webex for many years. Only saw folks’ presentation material. No need to see people’s faces or a room full of people around a table. Solid platform.

On zoom you never know who is showing up on the screen!!! You could be mid conversation with one individual and all of a sudden an angry man's face appears across the screen shouting about extreme political ideas.

Zoom actually has features to prevent Zoombombing. Unfortunately the feature was "off by default" on the presumption that people would be nice. The updated versions enable this feature "by default" so that folks not on the original invite list are placed in a "waiting area" when joining the meeting and the organizer must "let them in"
