Rode a very pleasant country loop yesterday. The meandering route took me on many quiet, picturesque, and unfamiliar streets. It pays to not simply choose the shortest or most popular path between two points. The only mistake was taking the Hwy 9 instead of Airport Rd Bridge into Snohomish, which I wouldn't recommend due to fast heavy traffic and a tiny debris-filled shoulder. All the parks I stopped at had roped-off parking lots but otherwise appeared to be open. To avoid busy roads I made a few connections via the Tolt Pipeline trail; it was fun bombing down gravel on skinny tires. There were a few cars parked outside the gate at Lord Hill with a ranger possibly writing tickets (couldn't tell) but he didn't seem to mind me going past the gate and having a snack in the parking lot.
I checked out RideWithGPS per recommendations but found that to do anything useful you need a subscription. Couldn't even show a route and make a track at the same time. So I went back to Strava which despite annoying upsells, social features, and route resampling still seems like the best option. Battery life was way better than with Gaia. On hikes Gaia seems fine though, maybe due to the shorter length of the track.
73 mi, 3800 ft Silver Lake. And yes I have the 10 essentials back there, or half of them at least What do you do when you forget your fork? Use carrots as chopsticks, of course Mtn Loop peaks and freshly tilled farm Mess from people parking on the shoulder at Lord Hill Skykomish River Park in Monroe Lewis St Bridge Along Tualco Loop Road Along High Bridge Road My kid thought these were marshmallows Abandoned rocket in Cottage Lake Blythe Park

RideWithGPS routes are easily made for free on the web site (not the app). Then you can follow in the app. (On my Wahoo Element Bolt, the RWGPS routes automagically show up with turn-by-turn directions). RWGPS is best for creating routes. Strava is best for tracking and you can make your ride private if not keen on the social part. If you use a phone, airplane mode will save battery level.
I've continued the Le Tour de Everette, now at stage 10, neighborhood by neighborhood. Highlighting all the roads is easy on the Wahoo unit. 350 mi, 27,000' gain, 34 hours, 16,000 calories Here's the map so far:

Walked Green Lake this morning. There are now signs asking folks to walk only counter clockwise around the lake and they request no bicycles. Of course some folks were ignoring directions. Damn anarchists....

We also walked a section of the Lake Washington boulevard north of Seward Park. I'd recommend this one as the cherry trees are at their peak.
This guy was waiting for a seagull to leave its nest....it then snatched the baby gull and flew off chased by the parent...

A refreshingly soggy day in the San Juans today gave way to some nice sunset vibes.

You guys are posting some first-rate images here.
I'm kind of wondering if maybe we should consider the possibility of multiple calendars - one for the "out of town" stuff and one for some of these outstanding local shots.

Interesting. I thought they ate fish exclusively. Being an opportunist certainly maximizes the chances for survival.

Is this the same critter or two different animals? One of them it looks like mottled patterns on the back so I'm thinking harbor seal, but the other pic the head definitely looks like a sea lion.
