That throws a monkey into the wrench. No telling when she'll open now.

They started again - very quietly - maybe 2 weeks ago....at least on the East Side.
Talked with a ski friend who was up on WA Pass a couple days ago. He said they’d chewed through all the avalanche paths and all was clear, except for the last Cutthroat slide path. Even so...there is widening, other work to do before it is ‘ready to open.
But, it looks like WSDOT wont open - even if clear - until ......?

I believe the Methow valley full timers and the Okanogan County Health department aren't particularly keen on having a bunch of King county residents come flocking over Washington Pass to their 2nd homes.
In normal times they want the tourist dollars -- during the pandemic not so much
Pacific County is telling owners of 2nd homes to stay in their 1st homes

From what I understand and have heard, some of the 2nd home folks came over early via the long way. Their goal was to escape the virus. Don't know if they are going to be successful or not.
What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities

So is strategy to leave one chute blocking, while clearing the rest?
I guess that lets WSDOT clear ditches, culverts and so on without needing to worry about traffic.
Best.

There are sturdy steel gates at either end , the WSDOT leaves those locked until they officially open the highway to vehicle traffic.
A few people do bike the hwy with ski gear to get a jump on Washington pass sking, though this risks a citation for traveling on a closed road.
