Cold Creek Road (9070) to Windy Pass and PCT 7-22-2022 Drove to Mt Catherine TH in Subaru Forester. Several sections of serious potholes. Rocky Run (FS 4832)
The spur (136 per Google Maps) to the backdoor TH is extra brushy but save for a nasty water channel right at the beginning and some moderate rutting about halfway in is still more or less drivable. Extra clearance would be good, don't take a car you don't want to add pinstripes to.

DNR does not have a recreation easement for recreation access across this road. DNR land managers are working on a solution. In the meantime, the only access to Mitchell Peak trail is from the North Siouxon Creek Trailhead, in the southern part of the Siouxon Block. Icicle River Road is still gated and closed at Snow Creek trail parking lot due to COVID 19. The Snow Creek trail and parking lot are also still closed as of today. This week, there is excavation work being done on the parking lot (enlarging maybe?) so even if the Forest Service opens the road to the remainder of the canyon soon, this parking lot may be delayed until this work is finished.

Today the gate at Snow Creek TH was opened and cars are now allowed up the Icicle River Road. The Eightmile/Mountaineer Creek road (access to 8-Mile, Colchuck, and Stuart lake THs) is closed at the junction of the Icicle road. Bridge Creek and 8-Mile campgrounds remain closed. Snow Creek parking lot appears to be open and it looks like that trail and 4th of July trails are open, but check with the USFS to confirm. I didn't travel upriver beyond 4th of July Creek, but I presume that all the other campgrounds (Ida, Chatter, Johnny, Rock Island...etc) are closed as well - check with the USFS

Thornton Creek Road is impassable to all but high clearance 4wd vehicles about 2.2 miles before the trailhead. There's a stretch of some of the worst washboard potholing I've ever seen on one of the steep hill sections. Four cars parked along the road at the bottom of it (including an Outback and a Cherokee). I'd had no trouble in my sedan in the past, but it'll need severe grading to make it passable to all again.
Sibley Creek Road likewise has some really nasty pitting right where it meets the Cascade River Road and is in all likelihood impassable to lower clearance vehicles until it gets graded.

Olympic National Park News Release
Culvert Installation for La Poel Creek on Highway 101 at Lake Crescent September 21 through October 31
Drivers should plan for delays for alternating single-lane traffic
PORT ANGELES, WA: Starting the week of September 21, Strider Construction will set up traffic control devices and signage in preparation for the installation of a new culvert at La Poel Creek on Highway 101 at Lake Crescent. The culvert installation became necessary to protect the road after a winter storm in January 2020 caused La Poel Creek to occupy a new channel and flow over the highway. The work is scheduled to be completed by October 31.
Drivers should plan for delays for alternating single-lane traffic in the area of milepost 223.5 near the entrance to the La Poel Picnic Area. La Poel Picnic Area must close early this season due to the culvert installation.
Flaggers will control traffic in the work zone during work hours. Traffic signals will be in place outside work hours and on weekends. In addition to the culvert installation, the project involves shoulder conditioning in the work zone as well as repaving and striping over the new culvert.
This project is being managed collaboratively by the Federal Highway Administration and the National Park Service.
For traffic information in real-time check the WSDOT Traffic Alert website at https://www.wsdot.wa.gov/traffic/trafficalerts/.

Waited too long to go to Monte Cristo, Deer Creek road gate is closed and someone blew up the old outhouse there.
