FWIW: King County engineers were inspecting the washout area today. I think the washout area could be made Prius passible for the summer with a few yards of gravel and a loader to spread it around.
Clearing the landslide will be a bigger undertaking, but likely not more than a few days work with a backhoe and loader. However the landslide covers about half the width of the road surface, so it is passable with care to vehicles as is.
OTH I wouldn't object to leaving the closure barrier at Valley Camp -- pedaling the road with no vehicle traffic is extremely pleasant.

Hansen Creek road is closed to cars but people push aside the barricades and drive through anyway. I parked at the barricades and walked in. Lots of the usual shenanigans where the road meets the snow... keep on going though for excellent road skiing and some light backcountry telemarking below Scout peak.

I drove up the middle this morning to where the road is blocked. Looks like the County maybe doing something up river. Fresh tracks out of gravel pit by middle middle school headed up river. The barricade is open in the middle of the road but being blocked by a manned County vehicle.

Word on the street is that the road is still closed to vehicles at Valley Camp and the barrier is staffed with someone that offered the advise to watch out for the gravel trucks while you are pedaling the road. The second barrier closer to the landslide is also staffed with the advice was -- turn around, work is underway.

I rode up later in the day Friday after the King County crew had left. They've been working all week and per a supervisor I saw earlier there's another week of work left. It remains to be seen if the Middle Fork road will be opened post-repair as part of the state public land opening but whenever that happens the slump and slide won't be the reason for closing it. The road is still closed at Valley Camp and there are additional blockages at the Pratt River Bar and the CCC trailhead.
Slump is filled in but still needs additional filling Leaning trees have been felled and cleared Slide is mostly removed but drainage needs more work. There's a lot of water coming out of the cliff.
In case you're wondering, Goldmyer is completely closed. Don't bother biking or walking, you won't be allowed in.
Sign at the Pratt River Bar closure -- Goldmyer is closed

Did you go out and observe the landslide and the damage? An awful lot of earth moved down the hillside above the roadway. I suppose if many millions were spend on engineering a retaining wall through that section perhaps it wouldn't have been blocked. I'm not sure that would be the best use of tax payer money for what is a road used for solely recreational usage.

When they built the Grand Coulee Dam, in order to stabilize the slope, they installed a network of pipes and blasted the slope with refrigerant. They should do that.

Thank you Puzzlr for the report and photos! Glad the county is fixing the road. Wait, didn’t I predict it being fixed in May? I didn’t think that was really going to happen, given the situation. Am looking forward to being able to access the Middlefork. Someday.
