Trail seemed to not have been cleared for two years - the initial quarter, but we were ready with handsaw and clipper, and cleared as much as we found strength for. This section of the trail is mushy, yet easily passable. Snow starts at 3500. Lots of firm snow in the couloir, easily passable. More snow than usual at the saddle. Be prepared for 75 degree sloped section for 40 feet. Better done in morning firm snow.
Sorry, not many skyline pictures - visibility was fog in the morning with partly cloudy by time we got into the car.
i've climbed Baring a number of times now. last time out i decided to measure the beginning of the trail to see how steep it really is. it turned out to be 1700 vert ft in 0.6 miles. it's almost like climbing but there is a trail.
beyond that it's a fun climb and i enjoy the couloir. fun glissade down it.
Big, DARK, LOOMING peaks. Extreme cloud cover. Intimidating conditions! Someone kickin' in on a snow cliff, total exposure. High winds! Dark vibes! Several people turning back in fear!!
If this looks too hard for you, it probably is!
