I’ve been dialing back on unnecessary things in my kit and am curious what other favorite types of foliage people use to do their business with during early summer-fall?
I primarily spend all my time around the central/north cascades.I’ve been liking the effectiveness and large leaves of trillium around the forests through the spring. I like to gather as I move usually remove 1-2 large leaves Per plant as I hike and pack it in my bag.

In the Sierra it is Mule Ears (the plant NOT the animal).

Trilliums don’t have a lot of leaves and actually aren’t in leaf for very long. I would recommend using a leaf that has less impact on a plant’s ability to survive.

"Dialing back"?
If you are so concerned about that amount of weight or volume, why bring anything with you at all?
Make your trips a real survival test.

Hmm It always looked effective but I never did research on it since I lived in Florida and the Spanish moss there was notorious for housing chiggers (small red bugs that burrow under your skin and itch like hell) not sure if they are here in WA but that always made me hesitant with using any type of moss. Lol

Salmonberry or so I've heard. Grows as an invasive in my garden, come on by and dig some up.

Devil's club leaves, be careful to fold to avoid the hazard of small spines.
