If he's familiar with the area he might head to 9737, west from Red Top, and look for a new vehicle, food and...
Hopefully he doesn't harm anyone.
There will be lots of people recreating up on the North Fork Teanaway this weekend
So many popular forest service roads criss crossing in that area. He could car jack anyone

There were ~100 law enforcements stationed out of Mineral Springs parking lot. Heavily armed and making their presence felt on 97 for a few miles in either direction. Intimidating.
I'd let him go. For now. Defuse the whole situation, defuse him. Provide a little gap and let him slip through it. Then put out a nation wide APB. In a couple of weeks, you'll pick him up in Seattle or someplace, working in a car wash. There'll be no fight and nobody else will get hurt.

I was thinking more along the lines of him stealing a pair of overalls from a nearby tow truck driver, got inside a hospital where he then stole clean clothes belonging to an old man laid up in a hospital bed, shaved his beard, slicked his hair back, pretended to be a doctor to get out of the hospital to steal an ambulance, drove cross country where he ended up diving off a dam screaming, "I didn't kill my wife!"

Murder Warrant Issued for fugitive Jorge Alcantara-Gonzalez in the case of missing Kent man, Ian Eckles. Search area to remain closed.
Kittitas County Sheriff's Detectives have obtained an arrest warrant for Jorge Alcantara-Gonzalez, the subject of the extensive manhunt in the Mineral Springs area of Kittitas County. Alcantara-Gonzalez is charged with the suspected killing of missing 41-year old Kent man, Ian Eckles, along with possession of two stolen vehicles and numerous other thefts and burglaries in Kittitas County, including the theft of firearms.
The warrant arose from the ongoing investigation into Mr. Eckles’ disappearance. Forensic and circumstantial evidence found in Mr. Eckles’ vehicle leads Law Enforcement to believe he was a victim of homicide.
The Sheriff’s Office continues to lead the investigation into Mr. Eckles’ whereabouts with the assistance and resources of many other local, state and federal agencies. It is believed that Jorge Alcantara-Gonzalez remains in the forested, mountainous area around Mineral Springs.
During the coming days, including this weekend, the Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the US Forest Service and cooperating agencies will continue to pursue this armed and dangerous subject.
Multiple US Forest Service Roads in the area will be closed, including all roads off SR97 between Liberty Rd and Forest Service Rd 9714 or Iron Creek, and access points to this area from the Teanaway ridge. We ask that everyone stay clear of this area for their safety, the safety of Law Enforcement Officers, and the success of this important investigation.
Sheriff Myers voiced his concern for the safety of the Liberty area residents, stating, "Our investigation into this suspect has confirmed he has a willingness and the ability to kill. We will continue to utilize all available resources to end this threat." |

I drove 97 South yesterday (Saturday 5/30) at about 2pm. Didn't see any law enforcement presence along the entire highway. Stark contrast to earlier in the week. Only noticeable element was the cones/gates blocking access to the closed forest roads.

I would think he'd be doing whatever he deems necessary to get out of the area.

^ agreed. I spent the weekend in the Hwy 97 environs and was thinking about this. I also wonder if he acted alone or if he had someone to come back and help him get the hell out of dodge.

Since I love to hike in this area, I'm planning to stay away for the time being. It's scary to think this creep is still in the area.
