Just finished my 7th day of serving curbside grab-and-go meals at my school in Cashmere. smile.gif

Contemplating various acts of mild civil disobedience of the backpacking sort. So far I've had to cancel/delay two group outings that I donated at auction. Those trips have been a yearly tradition that has added greatly to my getting out and to my story collection as well. Best two stories that don't involve medical issues? Helping a friend check out his future son in law by igloo camping was a winner! The kid threw up 15 minutes in! Another time a young man said he always slept directly on the wet ground because his sleeping bag was waterproof. Any way this too shall pass! Wash your hands.....

I'm sitting at home nursing a grade 3 sprained ankle. It's my first time off work, the company in Seattle I manage is staying open. So I have been doing my normal commute into Seattle, risking my health working with the public, for $300 per week less than if I had been laid off. I console myself with the knowledge that I am lucky to be healthy and employed at a company that is doing well, no significant loss of income. I've been taking my canoes out on various watery adventures, mainly from the still-open boat launches on the ship canal, one near the Ballard bridge, one at Sunnyside near Gasworks park. One nice day a couple of weeks ago I was the only boat out on Lake Union, that was strange but cool. I just missed getting crushed by that hail storm we had on a recent Tuesday. I saw it coming, and was in my motorized canoe, so I got Mr Suzuki fired up and motored back to the boat launch just in time, waited out the storm in the car. When I went to get the canoe to load it onto the car it had almost a foot of water in it.

Hiking the Gold Creek Trail to the top of Green Mountain. The rhodies are starting to bloom. Someone is flying a drone up here.

Sitting my shop, *thinking* about 1) continuing varnishing a project, 2) going for a much needed haircut, 3) getting a beer. wink.gif ....and later, the varnish won first place, beer second and haircut has to wait for appointment...

Enjoying a pint in a bar which is located in a phase 1 county.

When asked "Why do you climb"? Simply respond "Why don't you"?

I’m in my paddling canoe on beautiful Joe Creek, right next to Pacific Beach state park. Incredibly peaceful, the rumble of the surf backing up the amazing variety of bird sounds. I just saw a crow pull on the tail feathers of a juvenile eagle. The forecast for today was rain, and it did, hard, but then it stopped. Don’t let the shallow water of the creek fool you. Just carry or roll your boat a hundreds yards upstream along the sand from the campground, the creek becomes a forested backwater, not affected by tide changes (much).
