I mostly like using a hydration pack. It's kind of a pain, but I drink more and feel better as a result.

Titanium sporks are indeed essential. If you don't carry one, not only are you irresponsible, but you will most certainly die after a few hours of hiking. Minutes, perhaps, if you also don't carry the recommended brand of energy bar.

You should definitely never leave the house without a titanium spork. The spork should always be titanium because that makes it go faster.
Edit: dammit Nick, you beat me to it.

Livin' in the past. It's all about the carbon fiber sporks these days. They're so light and fast you only have to eat like half the normal number of calories.
...hopefully you at least drill speed holes in your spork.

But your carbon fiber spork needs to be aerodynamic and optimized for high volume tubeless gruel.

I love sporks! They don't work well as a fork nor as a spoon.

Instead of spending a ton of money on lightweight gear, I decided it would be better to simply work myself into better physical condition so I can carry more weight and be more comfortable in camp.
For instance I love my Mountain Hardwear 2 person tent that weighs about 4.5 lbs, I can keep my gear in one vestibule and pee out the other side door.

The Chief has it right.
I hike and camp because I enjoy it, If I can insure the enjoyment or add to it, I will be willing to try it.
I have found that packing in beer and lugging out the empties is not worth it.

I've found that packing in a frozen steak and a couple single-serving cartons of wine IS worth it.

I found a titanium spork on a hike last year. I was excited. I took it home.. I never used it on a hike though.. and then it made its way to the goodwill in a house purge. I should've Ebayed it..

Yes... IT IS! I’ve even froze some great left overs! 👍

Ultralight is for if you are weak. Ultraheavy is the preferred new deal.

Right and you also need a heavy pack with good suspension in order to help carry that heavy load. I have a Gregory Baltoro 65 liter that weighs about 5 lbs and an old REI heavy duty canvas pack that is surprisingly comfortable and the fabric and build reminds me of one of those McHale packs, but I paid maybe 20 bucks for mine.
