Occurred last Saturday, June 6. Tacoma News Tribune article Probable cause statement filed by the prosecutor in court. The defendant is from Olympia.

If he was driving a Ford Windstar van (with the hood up or down) at 50 mph in the immediate vicinity of LaGrande (which is actually on WA 7, not 706 at that point) he clearly either had a death wish or is simply crazy. Good example of why our mental health institutions need adequate funding.

Looks like he damaged a toll booth at the Nisqually entrance. Maybe Mt. Rainier is free for a while while entering from the Nisqually side. Mental health issues are very challenging to deal with.
