There is a development south of Lincoln City on the coast. It's an upscale housing area connected to the Salishan resort. It's on a long sand spit that separates the ocean from Siletz Bay. The topo is very much similar to the Bayocean location. There were erosion problems back in the early 70s which threatened the development. Aerials show it to be well built out now so I assume they were able to resolve the problem. I would like to know how they accomplished this but can't find any articles on the subject. There were no jetties involved so that didn't come into play. Soil stabilization on the Oregon coast is always a problem. It could be moving sand, clay bluffs that want to slide into the ocean, or highway subsidence and mud slides.
A few years ago Rockaway experienced major beach erosion and much of the downtown was flooded. Rip Rap was installed for at least a mile of beach. At considerable expense to property owners and leaving a 10 meter cliff along most of the downtown area. Since then sand has filled in a considerable height but the foredunes have been lost.
