State parks in Oregon opened last week. We drove down to Cape Lookout State Park for a 3 night stay in our camper. Tuesday day we drove down the Columbia from Longview and took a short walk on Netarts Spit. Wednesday we hiked the length of the spit and back 10.5 mi. Thursday we drove up to Bayocean spit and went up coast and back on the bayside. Both were bluebird days and I got a sunburn as my southwest tan had faded due to Covid stay at home. Spits were lonely people only walked the first half mile of each we saw only one group at the end of Netarts Spit from Netarts and a couple surfers who rode out to The G spot surf beach at Bay Ocean. On the way back saw many people on road. Birds, many Eagles, Blue Herons, Brown Pelicans, large flock unidentifiable white ducks, cormorants, and robins. Saw two dead young seals On Netarts spit.
Bureaucratic details: 1. State parks are open only with reservations no walk ups. 2. Many trails closed including North and South Beach trails and our favorite Cape Lookout. 3. State Park was Crowded with ever available spot taken usually with multiple cars.
