It's also sad that the farther you get from King County, the rate of mask wearing drops off calamitously.
On the way to Rainier, I stopped off at the Enumclaw Safeway. Myself and three grandmothers were wearing masks.

The best evidence indicates that masks do provide protection from getting infected, although some studies show minimal protection and you can find any sort of opinion that you seek on the net. Certainly an N95 helps or the health care workers would not be protected. I was fortunate to have a few unused N95s from my woodworking, so that is what I wear.
The bottom line is that it is unlikely for a droplet to pass through a mask, even a homemade cotton one. Under a microscope, the holes in the weave are not really holes, they are criss-crossed with tiny fibers with electrostatic charges.

Well, arent the National Forest, and the National Parks, and State Lands all public places in Washington State? So that means, when we are walking on the trails with NOBODY around. You are performing something illegal while walking? How about cross country travel? What about boating on state waters? |
Let's not blow things out of proportion.

We wear masks and get 6’ off trail when we see anyone. No need nor demand to wear one when alone or with close family members. Of course we are old farts. Some of you people are borderline insane. I consider someone who does not wear a mask in a crowd the same way as if they were waving a loaded pistol around.

Unfortunately I don't think this is going to make much difference. People don't seem to understand why masks are important (to protect others). For those that refuse to wear a mask in public within 6' of others, please explain. Are you ignorant, naive, selfish, or all of the above? Do you not believe wearing a mask will protect others? If so, what supporting evidence do you have other than dubious sources? Perhaps there is another reason to not wear a mask, but I can't think of one other than you have recovered from COVID. If you refuse to wear one, that's your choice but I hope you will take the advice of medical professionals and do your part (within reason).

My reason is not complicated Tom, I don't wear a mask simply because I don't want to.
I am not around people much and definitely not crowds and in close proximity.
I wore a mask to go the the casino on my birthday and I wore a mask 3 times to visit my Mom in the hospital. I saved the masks they gave me for when I use aerosol paint or when working with fiberglass insulation.

Yes, but the answer to a degree goes off into that realm of "politics":
It wouldn't matter what it was, there will always be a part of society that will resist anything the government tells them to do. Their "reasons' for doing so are irrelevant, notwithstanding their validity. It's one of those "just because" things.
Add to that a portion of the electorate that hates anybody currently holding elected office. Left, right, center, up, down, blue, green or purple - again not relevant. It's the old "US vs THEM" thing.
And then there are those who honestly believe the ill-informed pap spoon-fed to them by the whacko fringe nutters, like this clown Blaylock, who also insists that aspartame, Splenda, and other artificial sweeteners are significant detriments to human health, and that MSG is toxic to the brain (notwithstanding the fact that it is found naturally in a wide variety of foods.)

Yes.

The directive doesn't call for wearing a mask at home or in your car or outside not in a crowd. Folks with a medical reason to not wear a mask aren't required.
For shopping in a store or other interior public spaces is where mask wearing is expected.
You aren't six anymore -- start acting like it.

So the sheriffs are elected and the Wenatchee police chiefs are appointed by the sheriff of the county, do I have that right?

Yes, Sheriffs are elected officials. The Chief of Police is appointed by an elected official such as the Sheriff or mayor of the city.

So basically you are willing to kill people because you want to, same as Ted Bundy. That seems pretty clear.
