I'm coming back to Washington for the week of Labor day and eager to do some hiking and fishing. Things may change a lot in the next two months, but I wanted to get some updates on a few places. Does anyone know the current road/parking conditions for Annette lake, Mirror lake, Rainy Pass (going to Rainy lake), Cascade river road (heard it's closed?), and Suiattle river road, specifically Downey creek? Also I want to maybe do the Baker river trail and possibly Thornton lakes while I'm up in Skagit county, my parents retired there years ago. I'm going to pack in as much as possible into one week.

Sounds like a lot of driving. Annette Lake parking is open, and very crowded. Cascade River Road always closes for the winter, but it's usually open by now. All bets are off on that one. Keep an eye on the NCNP visitor info for that and Thornton.

Suiattle River Rd. has been in awful shape for several years, pothole infested. I haven't been on it this year, but I can't imagine it has improved.
