And here's my feeble attempt to photograph comet NEOWISE this morning, 5:00am. People were describing this as the best "naked eye" comet in over 20yrs. I guess I missed my chance and it's no longer that, or Pittsburgh skies aren't the best for viewing it, because if I didn't know exactly were to spot it, there's no way I'd have noticed it. It was as faint as the faintest star with the naked eye, and it was only when I looked at it through the 400mm lens I was using I could finally make it out. Still, pretty cool, but not what I was hoping for.

Galiwalker - I just love your bird shots; it's like they're posing for you, and your composition is just perfect. In re Comet Neowise, those media claims are baloney. Comet McNaught aka "The Great Comet of 2007" was the real stunner; easily visible without lenses.

Evening hike to Union Peak, trees on the top were taller than I remembered from ski trips. Caught Neowise ~3:30 this morning.

Now I’m glad that I put up my comet photo, even if I deemed it a failure! Two great follow up shots. up.gif

Kenji - I took the liberty of emailing your photo to a few friends and got responses back ranging from "amazing" to "freaking awesome". Thanks very much for the National Geographic caliber contributions! up.gif
