The 2 animals that investigate the camera most frequently are the elk & bears. Their sense of smell is extremely sensitive
Deer, Coyotes, Bobcats & Cougars tend to not notice it or just aren't as inquisitive

It was a mink, for some reason, BPG's post in response to the ? has disappeared. Everybody gets a prize.
It is as though I had read a divine text, written into the world itself, not with letters but rather with essential objects, saying:
Man, stretch thy reason hither, so thou mayest comprehend these things. Johannes Kepler

Interesting! We know about a bear's sense of smell, but elks?
You just might be doing research with your cams.

Not sure why my camera didn't capture this bobcat coming in for its siesta. Caught it as soon as it decides to wake up

"I'm the coolest bruin in the Teanaway!"
You really ought to think about subtitling your thread 'A bear-a-day' or 'A cougar every other day'.
Can't tell you how much I enjoy it by any name. You've undoubtedly spurred the sale of field cameras. I 've personally gone from zero to owning three, but in semi-rural Whatcom Co. haven't yet gotten a bear or cougar or bobcat....just lots of deer, squirrels, raccoons, owls, and coyotes, plus house cats. I keep waiting for something fabulous, but until that day and after I'll continue to relish your wonderful images. Thank you, BPG.

I capture lots of coyotes on my trail cameras but rarely post only because they don't excite me all that much. Here's a cute one though. Parent & Pups
This coyote decides to take a dump where the bobcat slept 9 days prior

Capture turkeys on my trail cameras nearly every time. The population continues to explode in the area.
