What if, the virus continues to spread despite mask wearing, closures, and social distancing? What if there is no vaccine that is safe and works? Will we continue to shut down the world or will we learn to live with it (or not) as we do the regular Flu Viruses? People think they can control everything in life and keep everyone safe from all harm. Imho, it's an exercise in futility. But, only time will tell.

Go placidly amid the noise and waste, and remember what comfort there may be in owning a piece thereof.

How will we know if you don't do your part and wear a mask where advised by public health officials?

And that is the problem.

What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities

True. I began wearing a mask last week while in Wa, haven't been around people here in Idaho and very few are wearing masks around here.

Whatever, the virus will probably magically go away after the November Elections.
I'm still waiting for the virus to magically go away by Easter when it starts getting warm.

One of my retired former co-workers and his wife spend winters in Mexico, tooling around in their travel van. They left in Nov and usually return in early spring but stayed down there longer this year b/c of the virus situation. He just got back about 10 days ago and said he was shocked at the lack of mask-wearing and social distancing in the US, compared to Mexico. Americans are real international stand-outs for the prevalence of the "I don't want to and you can't make me" attitude, with all kinds of half-baked justifications for why they're not gonna do it. Mask wearing is such a minor inconvenience; why can't everyone cooperate with a"we're in this together" attitude, showing concern for our fellow citizens? Here's one more high visibility news report demonstrating that it's not just frail old folks and people with underlying conditions who are vulnerable: Nick Cordero, Tony-nominated Broadway star, dies at 41 of coronavirus complications

Not an Onion article. It sounds like one, but it isn't. The Stupid make another headline. Masking is a Satanic Ritual

A bit off topic but, next they will require all females to wear a bra because people are offended. Pancake syrup is offensive, sports team names are offensive, statues and monuments are offensive, where will it ever end?

So you would be cool with a statue of General Oliver Otis Howard in a prominent position on the Nez Pierce reservation just to remind members of the Nez Pierce their "proper" place in society?

You make a good point there Bandito, although it’s not really the same thing. On one hand general Howard was involved in displacement and genocide of native Americans, while General Lee for instance was fighting a war against the northern states.

Yes and General Lee opposed erecting any statues in his honor during his lifetime. Almost all Confederate statutes were erected during the 1920s to reinforce the "lost cause" fable and during the civil rights era of the 1950s to send a message to blacks to "know their place".
