Hi guys, I'm going to be backpacking the High Ridge/7-Lakes Loop in mid-September. What can I expect for nighttime temps?

September is hard to predict. Can be Indian summer with glorious weather, or can be pretty much winter already in the high country. Or anywhere in between. I'd say definitely be prepared for temps to dip towards freezing overnight, even if the weather is generally nice. edit--the bears should be out enjoying the bounty of berries, you should have plenty of opportunities to observe them. I've done the loop twice. Once had a very close up encounter with a bear (without incident) and the other time saw 6 in one day, none real close up.

Thanks for the info. Will prepare for cold temps and weather. Will be nice to see bears as long as there's no incident. Had a tense encounter last year in Idaho with a mother black bear which fortunately didn't turn into an incident.

Ya, agreed, the high terrain is going to be cold at night especially with the longer nights by September, and the cold air will drain to and pool in the high lake basins. I'd prepare for freezing nights for sure, maybe even a bit colder just in case.
