Heads up... WSDOT has again failed to properly maintain a road, in this case the kachess lake overpass at exit 62, causing the two-lane bit of I90 to lose a lane. The backups heading east will be hours long tomorrow(and tonight).

Yeah, It is a mess. I went up there earlier today with the intent of biking a loop around Lake Keechelus use RD 4832 EB and the P2C WB, but as we started to climb toward Resort Creek Pond on RD 4832 cars and trucks with trailers started zooming by on RD 4832 as the freeway backed up past Exit 54. We did a UTurn and was amazed to see several semis headed up RD 4832. We rode the P2C to the dam and back instead and heading for home observed that I-90 was backed up to the chain up area at exit 47

We had a 24mm view from atop Snoqualmie Mtn today, it was grim. The traffic was moving steadily, albeit ~5mph, but there was a lot of it. . . Not too bad getting up the inside lane to the exit at the pass, though.

It is as though I had read a divine text, written into the world itself, not with letters but rather with essential objects, saying: Man, stretch thy reason hither, so thou mayest comprehend these things. Johannes Kepler

That spot in I90 has been damaged for several YEARS...waiting until a summer weekend when workers are furloughed is a chess move

Looks like they have patched that section. Hopefully it will hold until the fall when the WSDOT had scheduled replacement of the concrete panels.
Quote:
CONDITIONS: I-90 eastbound milepost 62, ten miles east of the summit: WSDOT is asking drivers to reduce speed to 40 MPH, across an area of new maintenance road work. Expect delays.

I started getting texts about the issue when I was at the outlet of Lillian on my way up to Rampart Ridge. Decided I didn't want to spend the night in my car, so I drove back out to the main road and it was already gridlocked shitshow and obvious I was going nowhere so I did what any rational person would do, turned-around and drove the harrowing road up to the glider launch. I stitched together some quality video of the mess for the 'gram, ate my sandwich, drank the only beer I brought (fortunately a 22oz bomber from Dru Bru), took a nap and when I woke up at 5pm it was still a mess, albeit it looked to me like it was moving along Gold Creek Rd again. So I crawled my way back down to the main forest road and there was nobody coming up or going down except for a lone cyclist. His advice was to go east and come back along WB 90 as the backup was all the way into the switchbacks to get back to Hyak. I took it a step further and drove all the way over the top of Kecheelus Ridge, which is a quite pleasant drive when it's snow-free, observed a considerable number of vehicles up there which probably shouldn't have been incl. a few whose operators seemed quite lost. So I did what any self-respecting local would do, wrote "DO NOT FOLLOW" in the dust on my rear window and drove all the way over to the Kachess Lk CG and out that way. There was still a considerable flow of cars coming out of FS-4832 and getting back on I-90 to go east. I had an uneventful drive back to the top of the pass for dinner at the CW and by the time I finished my last beer after sunset the traffic on 906 had cleared completely.
