I can't wear polypro or any of it's cousins so I decided to try a SmartWool t-shirt despite the high cost. But I couldn't find any. Apparently they're redesigning them. But I found this company in New Zealand that makes merino wool outdoor gear. They carry everything from camisoles to thick, heavy, felted coats. I got a long-sleeved, lightweight t-shirt. It's as soft as silk and the price is better than SmartWool. It's Outside Sports:

I would recommend www.shoebuy.com as an option among online retailers although they don't focus on just hiking and outdoor activities. They do carry a wide assortment of shoes, backpacks and clothing! I recently bought my Hi-Tec shoes and Kelty backpack from their site which came with free shipping and returns and no sales tax. How many sites offer that? And also if you need to shop for anything it's great for that too! |

www.prolitegear.com
Specialized in light weight backpacking gear, some brands like Rab that are hard to find
www.basegear.com
Portland, OR internet based store that has some really good sales occasionally. If you live in Portland, OR they will let you swing buy to try on and pick up your gear. Hard to find brands (Rab, Montane, etc) |

Has anyone had any dealings with Basegear.com ? They're located in the Portland area & look to be only online. I never heard of them before. They appear to have a great selection of gear.
How are they on returns? |
