Fred Meyer now sold out at two stores I checked in town.
I hit the Northgate Big 5 yesterday and I got the last two small canisters, Kovea branded. The clerk said that was all that came in on the last shipment. Funny as I searched their website and it showed all other locations as "limited Quantity, check before coming in" but the Northgate said "in stock". The clerk said they just got the shipment and only those 2 canisters were there.

Since I have no expectations of forgiveness, I don't do it in the first place. That loop hole needs to be closed to everyone.

Plenty of white gas for us old timers. Going on 50 years now since my first Optimus 8R and never an issue I couldn't fix.
Every time I sort through all my "un-used gear" bins I wonder why I am still holding on to the white gas canisters and stoves. Now I am feeling smarter than I really am.

Still have three white gas stoves (Coleman Peak 1, MSR Whisperlite International, Snow Peak white gas), as well as a Caldera Cone alcohol stove. So I've got alternatives if needed. Fortunately I have a good stockpile of MSR canisters of various sizes, as well as a transfer valve if needed.

The only easy day was yesterday...

If you saw off some old canisters, you can pour some the gas into an empty Nalgene, seal 'r up. Consolidate a few cans.

I hope you are joking. Sawing off an almost empty canister sounds like a bad idea to me. Kind like combining hydrogen and heat for better lift in a balloon (it brings a whole new meaning to more bang for your buck). Way back in science class I think I read something about sparks and gas being a volatile combination and even if the tank material is not supposed to spark you never know what people might try to do.

You can always use Bacardi 151 and a pop can stove.

Go placidly amid the noise and waste, and remember what comfort there may be in owning a piece thereof.

This is good to know--I hadn't realized that like jigsaw puzzles, hand weights, and cleansing wipes, fuel had become hard to get. It makes sense. Everyone is camping. I've never had such a hard time getting campsites as this year, and also never seen so much hotel/motel availability--everyone is camping rather than staying indoors. Similarly I was just in a marine store trying to buy a life jacket and they were wiped out, and they told me they had never had such booming business as this summer. I think a lot of outdoor items are in short supply.

I have one of these little gizmos thanks to having read about it on another thread in this forum. I (luckily) I bought 7 of the 450 gram bottles at the Big Five store back in March. Using this device I am able to get every last gram out of the big bottles by freezing the receiving canister and warming the donor. I use a gram scale and fill as close as possible to an exact weight. I wouldn’t spend the extra money on the one with the vent button we’re into do it over.

I got my old whisperlite out of the Armageddon Cache as white gas’s is still available but found enough canisters for modest backpacks. Wow Wallys world has some 100g ones for scary prices eek.gif

Well, if camp fuel becomes completely unavailable, then start doing things the old way, over a fire.
