Anybody been up to Upper Mill Creek road East of Stevens Pass in the last couple years?
Sounds like it's high clearance vehicle only to get all the way to the trail that connects to the PCT. But how far can you drive in an ordinary car? If you can get almost all the way there it would be worth it to park and walk.
The Cascade Curmudgeon and I drove it on Monday. The first 4 miles are the usual crummy, pothole-infested old forest service road. The last half mile is a terrible rocky mess. CC put his Toyota Tacoma into Sherman tank mode to drive it. There is a pullout area right when the awful stuff starts that he brushed out with a brush whip he had put in the truck on our way back out so we could park there and not start a fire and walk the half mile to the TH next time we go there, if we do. The trailhead is directly under a big ski area sign and is about a .5 mile hike to the PCT.
