I just got an email from Garmin with this deal on a mini. And it applies to a similar discount on the Explorer as well.

Just saw that the InReach Mini is on sale at REI $50 off. $100 off InReach Explorer. $100 off Garmin GPSMAP 66i I don't know how long this will last. I haven't looked if this was on prices elsewhere. Rumi

I guess the only reason to get the Mini as compared to the SE is size? Functionally they do the same thing. I bought my older model Delorme Inreach SE a few years ago, used, on Ebay for about $140. It works fine. My only complaint is it's very slow-going to type text messages.

Is there any difference in the SE and Mini antennae? Our Mini can take quite awhile to find satellites, both navigational and conversational, like in treed areas.

I saw the InReach Mini at Costco today for $329. That's only $20 off regular price but includes a free month of subscription price. Rumi

Here is the alternative product that uses the same satellites. https://www.zoleo.com/en-us/satellite-communicator/

Thanks, I wasn't aware of that product. I will have to check that out.

Here's a pretty fair comparison between three communication devices.

Just got the REI sales brochure in the mail. On the back page they are offering save $100 on the inreach mini. Are they coming out with a new model? Sale starts on Nov. 13

Just got the same. $100 off combined with my $100 gift certificate would bring the price down to $150 for me, so I think I might pull the trigger on this now. It's kinda a painful decision. Still not certain. Rumi

Pulled the trigger last night on this and combining my $110 gift card with the $100 discount, I got it for $150 + tax. It was a big decision on my part being that I dislike communication technology in the backcountry. But being I am 68 yo and legally blind I submitted. The $100 discount is pretty much universal, so you can get this deal anywhere, including Costco or Amazon. I got it at REI because I had a $100 gift card to combine with it. I don't know how long the $100 discount will last. Maybe someone else knows. Rumi
