Completed the McAlester-Rainbow Lake Loop in the NCNP. 40ish miles: heavenly flower fields, deep forests, and high ridges. Not logged out this year, so stock camps open to hikers. To wit: High Meadows stock camp was a fantastic surprise. Even saw a bruin from the PCT! The flies were swarming below 6k and the mosquitos above 6. But they never joined forces against me on this trip.

Short Note - Goal was Price Lake off the Nooksack Cirque trail. You can easily wade Ruth Creek or cross on the log jam downstream of the trailhead. The famous log is finally gone so if you are going to Price Lake you will need to wade the Nooksack River.

Did you catch any fish after we left? It was such a nice day we envisioned you laying in your pack raft on the lake all day whipping the water to death!

loving the exploration of the interstitial lands Brucester. The strange archeological appeal of man meeting nature, and for some strange reason there always seems to be more wildlife than in the wild...

About the same as Monday. Signs of lots of pressure. Steve saw lots of entrails in the water. Glad I took the raft. So darn relaxing floating around. Didn’t fish Cooney. Overweight hiker + overweight pack makes for sore feet.

Heading up to Mount Dege I chatted with a ranger about seeing things on trail never seen before like an abandoned stroller while hiking at St Helens on a dirt trail... She said she saw a dude in a unicorn onesie the day prior... So I'm up at Dege and there's this girl taking selfies in a hot pink crop top... Headed over to the Fremont lookout was eventful for Covid times. Mask on and then mask off to breathe mountain air. It seemed crowded. Groups of 5 seemly everywhere. I got to the lookout and felt crowded so I left. I didn't take one picture. Too many people!
Back at the trailhead...

Is that your ride? That looks like one of those crawler things that go out on the ice along the Icefields Parkway up in Alberta.

These both seem worthy of more than a paragraph in the lazy TR thread. No pics?

Not my rig. Imagine being the passenger on the ride down, that shoulderless road with no guardrails.

Backpack trip to Vista Ridge North Side Glacier Peak. Road in ok condition after recent grading. Developing washboard already. Several large blow downs on Suiattle to Switchbacks section. Switchbacks very brushy worse going to Mica Lake. Almost everyone was South Bound Thru Hikers on PCT. Great weather not to hot no rain.

Murphy lakes for 2 nights. Bugs not too bad, the hot weather made the upper basin a reflector oven. Too hot bailed a day early. Nice fat fish. Went in from the hot springs. Forest gnome is a pretty good sport when it comes to off trail travel.

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,I took the one less traveled by. And that has made all the difference. Robert Frost
