Went to Libby Lake Saturday with a friend I don't get out with often. A few cars at the trailhead, mostly day hikers. The trail is cleared out. The sidehilling can't be a bit "loose" in the burn area due to erosion but not terrible.
There was one family overnighting at the lake. Almost zero bugs and a beautiful day. Just lazed around, did some fishing and just took in the awesome day. Fish were small and hungry.
The 3200' gain in 5+ miles was plenty for me. My friend wore hiking sandals the whole way and I'm sure his feet felt better than mine at the end of the trail.
If you're a larch person, this will be worth a fall trip.
