Still happening at the Necklace valley trail head. Saw a report where many cars were broken into at the Necklace valley trailhead.

Here is a link to a WTA trip report about the break-ins at the Necklace Valley trailhead. https://www.wta.org/go-hiking/trip-reports/trip_report-2020-08-26-9620736435 Sad situation for sure.

That's terrible. I guess it's good that I parked my park at the West Foss TH instead of Necklace Valley TH when I did the Iron Cap traverse over the weekend. Both TH's were packed though

Not to worry. If they continue to cut alder like that, the tree will get them.

What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities

That area is like a candy store for thieves. Trailheads full of cars just waiting to be plundered.

One of you retired folks should set up a trail cam. I would if I had the time and lived in the area. Gather a little evidence for the police.

They want to charge and require a NWFP there, they have to have all the amenities. Seems like they don't..

This is an excellent legal argument. "Security services" is in the statute. I have done a quick search to see if this term is defined by any other statute or case law and cannot find a clear definition. So the term is given its plain meaning. If you sued the Forest Service, they would argue driving up to a trail head once a month constitutes this "service." But I could see a court mandating that the Forest Service make more regular visits to trail heads, particularly ones with high rates of vehicle break ins. If they fail to do this, they should take down the requirement for the NWFP at this trail head.

Come on everyone. Where is a tweaker supposed to get the funds for his next buy? Next time I'm just going to leave a $20 dollar bill under the wiper bade.
