All,

Three burly he-men were swarmed by yellow jackets on S. Fork Stilly along Mt. Loop Hiway yesterday.  Each of us stung 2-4 times.

We had forded the river, danced with death at the Ice Caves, panned for gold, and swum the icy river near Silverton to prove our he-man burliness.

How can something so small turn 3 burly he-men into screaming, running, flailing, cussing, 'fraidy-cat little _ithches?

Tom

I was swarmed just exiting a trail onto a road.
Much to the amusement of a passing car. Nasty little buggers.

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,I took the one less traveled by. And that has made all the difference.

My brother tells me that when they fly up your shorts (when in "commando" mode), it's FAR more entertaining!  eek.gif  lol.gif

Yes ^^^ a couple of years ago here in Idaho I had one fly up my hiking pants leg and sting me in the upper thigh, I have never disrobed so quickly! My leg was swollen-sore-itchy for several days.

Then last August I went start our Ford truck that had been sitting and didn't notice the yellow jacket nest on the passenger door...Bam, I was nailed in the hand, which swelled up so badly I couldn't make a fist for a few days.

This year I haven't seen any, I think they were rained out, we had a really wet spring-early summer.

I would very much have liked to see that  embarassedlaugh.gif

I've seen burly he-men loggers in Forks turn into blubbering piles of mush at the sight of a little baby.

Glad to see a post from you!
