I hiked the Walt Bailey trail to Cutthroat lakes and Bald Mountain today.

Anyone have any information on who Walt Bailey was and why he has a trail named after him?

Thanks in advance.

You picked a good time to go there, the bugs are wicked thick in July.

He led Mountaineer and Signpost Magazine work parties to build that trail in the 1980s. He flagged it, organized the work parties. He was also in the CCC crew that built the Squire Creek Pass trail.
