I wouldn't be too down on Vesper Peak. It is beautiful. I have been up there many many times, and up Sperry Peak as well, and never had a problem at all. People die in the mountains, and it is sad, but here have been deaths all over the mtns, Vesper doesn't hold any records for being the most dangerous place.
Totally agree. I've also climbed it numerous times, without having any problems. Haven't been for a few years, but I love it up there. There's just something about Lake Elan, such a wonderful basin. Wirtz Basin is nice too. I like how various segments of the climb have such different characteristics from other parts.

I have only been up there once, but that's probably enough, although I dream of returning. We spent the night in the camp area next to the lake, those smooth granite boulders make good furniture.

Go placidly amid the noise and waste, and remember what comfort there may be in owning a piece thereof.
