It's odd his dog hasn't come out. frown.gif

Exactly.  I keep thinking the dog will be discovered and then lead rescuers back to the missing hiker.  Such a mystery.  I wonder what time of day that the hiker was last seen and whether he was  going up or headed back.

The dog must have gotten hurt too or being very loyal and sticking with the owner.  frown.gif     ~z

Eyewitness said he was heading up to Gem around 2-2:15 on Sunday afternoon, per post on KC SAR's Facebook page.

I would expect that if the hiker was injured that his dog would stay with him and try to keep his owner warm and safe.  What a very sad story!

Yes, but how long can this man last? Eventually his dog will come out; I would think it would be by now, if he is able and can be found.

Well at that point he had around 4 hours of daylight left.  Thanks, Kat.  Seems like he had just enough time to visit the lake and head back before dusk/dark.

Some off-trail travel must have ensued or the search teams would have spotted him if he stayed on the main trails.  This has to be miserable for him.  It's been 15 days since he went missing.  I am sad for his and the dog's suffering out there.  ~z

There is a lot of loose talus by Gem including Wright Mountain. It would be easy to slip and break a leg or sprain an ankle if solo and off trail and not be seen.
