Thank you so much for posting this. Just yesterday I was looking at a jacket I wanted but couldn't justify at retail price.
Two things to add:
1 - The sale isn't on everything. Their site says "50% off your purchase" but it turns out at least some products (the jacket I wanted) are not on sale.
2 - If you contact customer service to ask about something that isn't on sale, they'll give you 20% off.
Edit: if you go to a store, they will give you an extra 10% off for applying for their credit card. Don't have to use it. I got a down vest for $34 after tax. Plan to use it around town on cool days.
I think the lesson is don't ever pay full price for their stuff.
or for anything...let the beta testers have their disappointments with the latest and greatest and then buy what didn't work for them on Ebay.
Musical instruments are a classic example - that fancy PRS guitar didn't improve my playing at all - so I'll sell it and hope the next one does. I've got a whole music studio of other peoples rejected gear - at 50% of what they paid for new. And that 50% price holds its value until I'm done with the stuff, so basically I'm just borrowing the gear.
An Ebay lesson: any time the term "pro" is used in the description you know it is as from said quality as is humanly possible.
Since I have no expectations of forgiveness, I don't do it in the first place. That loop hole needs to be closed to everyone.
