I spent a rainy day at Ohiopyle State Park. Despite the near constant drizzle I had a great time, because the colors were popping. The leaves were falling fast - I fear this might be the final good weekend for fall foliage viewing - but there were still enough of them on the trees to make for a dazzling display, top to bottom. I decided to go for breath over depth; I visited a bunch of spots in quick succession.

So many beautiful photos. This one looks quite dramatic.
And this one (--Great capture!) looks both fun AND scary. ~z

Since my theme all day was to shoot fall foliage, I went to Ohiopyle Falls with that first shot in mind (photo #12): I wanted to have the waterfall positioned with a backdrop of trees in autumnal colors. As I was setting up, these kayakers appeared and began to drop over the falls one by one. The very first one down capsized, but kept rolling and came right back up. It was pretty impressive to see. (By the way, you have to get special permission to do this. Even though Ohiopyle Falls is only 20ft tall it's a powerful waterfall.)

In addition to enjoying the pictures, I'm having fun saying Ohiopyle.

OMG!
what can I say besides ... totally fantabulous! thanks again for sharing your beautiful photos!
I wish Washington had more reds, but the yellow and gold are good enough. I have a sunset maple so it helps.

Thanks, bobbi! Sorry for not responding earlier; I've been somewhat distracted.
This year's fall foliage showing here was spectacular. Having said that, I'd trade all of this for golden larches in a mountain setting any day of the week!
