Camping is my thing, and winter camping is where I thrive! These camps are fall camps, but the winter camping is very soon upon us and I’m getting very excited for this season. Here’s my favorite shots from October’s fall camps!
10/3
Lake Chelan sawtooth wilderness
10/6-10/8
Mount rainier National Park
10/20
Alpine lakes wilderness
Side note: so I got this Swiss Army knife with an altimeter, barometer, and thermometer. It’s pretty accurate when properly calibrated. So I’ve been testing out it in the cold night temps. I found out that in my tipi, the temperatures stay averagely 10-15 degrees warmer then the outside temperatures. So out side the tent it was 25 degrees, but inside it was around 34-37!
At sunrise I was starring at The temple, and thought this mountain looks like a simpsons character. Is it just me??

Tell me about the branches up the side of your tent? There has to be a good story, or purpose here.
And, nice pics!

Ay thanks man! The sticks (larches) on my tipi are to ward off the stick people. I’m Salish and Blackfoot. and according to the Salish, there are a dwarf people that live in the woods. They like to prank you and mess with Indians by poking holes in their tipis. The sticks keep them from messing with your tipi!

Well the stick people are said to be night people. They’re the sounds you hear at night, the movement in the shadows. You may never see one, or you could see one and not know it. They clothe themselves in Small animal hides and roam the forest.

How do the branches on the outside ward them off? Are they not able to move them and get into the tent? Are these branches/sticks to be place around the circumference of the tent? I am just trying to understand this a little, Thanks and nice pics by the way

It’s more of a trick to trick a trickster. The stick people come by the camp and think the camps already been messed with so they continue to push on unless you leave gear outside, then they might mess with that. Their main objective is to mess with you and if you take that fun out of that you’ll fool them instead lol
