Regarding the cougar sniffing and rolling, notice the reported temperature increases by 7 degrees in two minutes. (I suppose it's the scientist in me wink.gif ). Either the sun just hit the camera, or that is one hot cat who radiates infrared like mad. Edit: or 'these.... cameras..... are notorious for inaccurate temperature readings." Thanks, BPG. I actually thought of that but don't want to put any doubt on the camera, which takes such great imagery. My first one is also a Browning based on your favorable comments when you first started this thread, and it is higher quality than my other two, which are cheaper brands X and Y).

These Browning Cameras I use are notorious for inaccurate temperature readings. It's the biggest complaint from purchasers. I like all the other features though.

I wonder just what it is about the camera that attracts the attention of these animals. Sound, IR illumination, or did they just notice that 'something's different'? Intriguing.

It's the IR illumination. Cheaper and older model cameras have IR illumination that's visible to animals. You can spend a bit more money and get cameras that have "invisible" IR illumination that largely eliminates this problem. I say "largely" because I still see evidence that some animals occasionally notice the "invisible" IR illumination.

Looks like the IR illumination spooked him (her)? How about Captain Midnight?

Yes (burp). Belging belly looks like many of ours will be a month from now. Wonder if our cat friend just ate any of the turkeys that abound around.

Do you just have one camera and move it around every week or so? Ever consider setting up more?
I have 4 cameras. I never have less than 2 and no more than 4 going at a time
Ah I see. Maybe they all just say "TRAILCAM01" on the videos so I was fooled haha

Man this thread is the coolest! I’ve been keeping up with these posts for a few months now, and man I didn’t realize there was so much wildlife out there! Especially the cats! Like DAMN! Very cool man 🤟🏼
