20 year old Gage and 24 year old Hector. Went on a day hike to Snow Lake and failed to return. Not well prepared and currently snowing. SAR out tonight. Contact King County Sheriff if you saw them on Monday. Sorry, I can't get his photo to upload.

Go SAR go! I will keep Gage and Hector in my thoughts. Hopefully they will be home by lunch today with nothing more than a very adventurous tale. <3

Yes, Gage and Hector were found. No injuries. Cold and hungry. A learning experience for the both of them.
We are truly grateful for all the fantastic SAR folks and King County Sheriff that put their lives at risk searching for them.

Great news for Gage, Hector ... and dad!

So they somehow went down the Rock Creek trail all the way to the MFK trail. Spent a miserable wet cold night in a makeshift shelter. In the morning they came back up the Rock Creek to Snow Lake and were located by one of the SAR teams.
It ended well. Thank you all for the good vibes.

Glad they are OK! Must have been a cold night. I was wondering if they took that turn. The rock creek trail is a pretty rocky trail with overgrowth towards the top. Much different than the snow lake trail. But I guess you never know what it's like to be lost until you actually are.
Nice work by SAR.

not to mention the Snow Lakes trail goes UP from the lake to the divide and then back down to Alpental.
Since I have no expectations of forgiveness, I don't do it in the first place. That loop hole needs to be closed to everyone.

SO nice to see a missing hikers report where the hikers survived and were found by search parties.

They made some mistakes that resulted in the unintended night out, but.. They did a few things right. They stayed together and stayed on known trails which greatly contributed to the success of this mission.
People going down Rock Creek instead of back to Alpental happens often enough that Rock Creek is part of any search plan involving lost hikers at Snow Lake.

Yep, but when your cell phone used as a navigation device goes dead...
My compass still works. Never needs batteries and the original software has never needed updated.
