I think I might need to read the book, but here's a short summary. http://www.evergreenmagazine.com/a-unifying-message-first-put-out-the-fire/

What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities

Here is another short article from Evergreen that functions as a sort of manifesto for their viewpoint: http://www.evergreenmagazine.com/playing-politics-with-nature/ After reading this article it would be very instructive for anyone interested in these topics to read this book: https://uwapress.uw.edu/book/9780295975504/forest-dreams-forest-nightmares/ The book lays out in excruciating detail how the "management" of our forests in the past created the need for management now.

Between every two pines is a doorway to the new world. - John Muir
