There was another person on the sidewalk this morning. Then, the light was red so I had to wait to go across the highway. Pretty bad here too.
OK, now that is awesome.

Well seems the officials in Olympia are turning a blind eye to all the social gatherings going on in Leavenworth and are more concerned about 20% at the restaurants closer to home

It seems like most of the local restaurants and businesses are doing a pretty good job at following the mandates and offer either only take-out or outdoor seating with properly-distanced tables. Thi thing I notice is the number of visitors ignoring the mask, group-size, and distancing protocols while walking around town. As I wrote above, it's gotten better to be sure in the past few weeks, but the numbers have also grown steadily too.

Apparently there is a really big tourist scene going on in Dur Bavarian Willage. All they have to do is shut the lights off. Or perhaps a commando raid of some kind could do that for em. Dur Lightieslaugen
Wow, that's really obnoxious. (The bartender carding all the out of state people, the wedding of the Nashville couple pictured in the article, the tourists going to local hospitals and testing positive). Who the f*** is traveling across the country to marry right now? Of course, like you say, if Leavenworth/Chelan Co really doesn't want visitors, they can just turn the lights off, or, do like Bend did over the summer--prohibit short term rentals.

We recently hiked the old Oregon Trail segment at Barlow Pass (Mt Hood). I remember back in 1847 when we emigrated from Illinois and ran into a really nasty traffic jam where folks was lowering their prairie schooners down the super steep hill. We was lucky since we'd loaded up on water, so we's could hang out the 3 days it took to git through that jam.

"The city is now considering the possibility of only turning the lights on during weekdays to reduce the number of visitors on busy weekends, Leavenworth Mayor Carl Florea said. ". So people are like insects, drawn to the light?

Go placidly amid the noise and waste, and remember what comfort there may be in owning a piece thereof.

Yes. It IS dur Bavarian Willage. The Christmas lights are a major production and the perfect road clogging event, even without all the usual activities. Apparently the mayor got into a bit of hot water over his comments and was requoted as saying it was just a suggestion to shut off the lights on weekends. Pack yer vinter leiderhosen.

What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities

Was on one of the secondary roads to avoid THE stoplight, and had to stop for a guy twirling, yes, like a baton, a hockey stick whilst crossing the street in a crosswalk. He wasn't very good at it and dropped it a couple of times and made my trip even longer! mad.gif

Where did you get that idea? I was polite, and silently waited. Obviously, the guy did not take baton lessons at Arlene's.
