I was not impressed with a Sugar Bee that I got at a grocery. Then, I got a small bag at the Okanogan Farmer's Market and they were soooo gooood.
Bought a box of cull goldens for applesauce from the same orchard, and they were much sweeter/riper than the warehouse apples I'd been using.
I haven't seen any Cosmic Crisps out yet.
What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities

Saw 'em at Fred Meyer today - $2.50/lb, and every single apple in the pile was huge - no chance to pick a small one just to try .. a single apple weighed just under a pound! So I got one, and am going to do a side-by-side taste test with at least 2 others ... just to see what all the hoopla's about. But even if it's the best tasting ever, I'm not paying that price for apples. Stay tuned.

I can't see how they would be better than the Autumn Glory's at about half the price. I also don't like a huge apple, why I usually buy the schoolboy galas. The galas also stay very fresh since there is a high turnover and most grocery store apple displays are non refrigerated. When I first worked at the Marysville Fred Meyer in the early 90's we had refrigerated shelves, we had a remodel and did away with them. I always thought that was a mistake.

I have lots of free Safeway grocery rewards ($5 of $5, as well as $2 off $2 produce) if anyone wants to sample the variety of apples at your local Safeway. Works in WA and OR. Tried the honey bee last night. Pretty good.

That seems odd. The Cosmic Crisps I got last year seemed on the small side.
I have to wait about 10 months for the just off the tree apples. Those are the best. But, cherry season starts in June. Yom yum.
