I tried searching the internet but couldn't find anything. It did say the glacier was named after the creek. Big help. wink.gif Only possibility I seen was RM McAllister from the us coast guard. I'm trying to do a short article for our clan newsletter. Thanks.

I didn't find anything in Beckey, but did find this from the NPS North Cascades http://npshistory.com/publications/noca/hrs/sec3.htm Scroll down to "Thunder Creek Mining District".

Thanks a ton! I think that's it! Instead of quickly scrolling, i read quite a bit of that on the way down. pretty interesting. Given so many of the other peaks seem to be named in the same fashion, like Logan and Buckner, it seems William McAllister might be the most likely namesake.

Wouldn't be surprising, though, if he was related.

In 'Exploring Washington', a book by Harry Majors published in 1975: "McAllister Creek drains a tremendous cirque with spectacular glaciers, rarely visited by man. the creek commemorates miner William McAllister living in Marblemount in 1895 and active on Thunder Creek between 1898 and 1915."

Page 4 of this edition of The Concrete Herald directly ties William McAllister to the naming of McAllister Creek. I am not aware of the year when the glacier was likewise recognized by his name. Here is the link. https://www.concreteheritagemuseum.org/uploads/2/2/3/4/22348866/19661130.pdf McAllister is also discussed in this article under Settlement Patterns in the North Cascade Upper Skagit. http://www.stumpranchonline.com/Tales/LandOfShadows.html
