History of the North Cascades
This, coupled with Beckey's superb Range of Glaciers, give the history buff an excellent view of the region in and around the present North Cascades National Park. Among topics covered in this treatise are mining, trapping, logging, and settlement history. Photos of locations including the confluence of Ruby Creek and the Skagit River ( pre-Ross Lake) add interest. I find the descriptions and old photos of early trail and road building particularly fascinating. It is exhilarating to locate traces some of these historic routes.
