I didn't grow up celebrating Christmas, so I always knew the answer. I never lied to my kids - but the one deal they all have is they cannot ruin it for other children. They have done well.
The biggest thing we can do is not give big presents from "Santa" to children. It leaves a lot of sadness when Santa doesn't deliver. A child in poverty gets Dollar Tree toys, but an upper middle class child gets a new $900 phone?
My children get nothing from "Santa". If they choose to fib at school (in years past) that was fine, they knew that, and they could say they got "x" from him.
I mean...we could do Krampus. Lol.
And with that, Virginia abandoned any hope of understanding the world through scientific inquiry.
Seriously though, thanks for posting, Ski. Somehow I had never read that in entirety.
