But I'm doing it anyway. If I'm going to go to the trouble of writing a blog post, I might as well share it. It's a crazy busy trail, yes; but as long as you know what you're in for and are prepared to pass if there is no parking, then why not? http://slowesthiker.com/blog/lake-22/

I think this is the first actual trip report on NWHikers I’ve seen for Lake 22 since 2017! Usually it’s only mentioned in annoyance due to the parking overflow out onto the MLH. lol.gif Sorry to read about your Lexi girl, Kellbell. confused.gif

I think I went to lake 22 once, but I can't actually remember

This time of the year there are only like 3 hikes from the Verlot side of the MLH, so it will remain crowded all winter. I wonder how many people even realize the winter avalanche danger on this hike?

Go placidly amid the noise and waste, and remember what comfort there may be in owning a piece thereof.

Be thankful that you can get out anywhere! The minute you lose that abillity youre going to realize how precious each trip was/is!

An old favorite trail - back when you'd only see a few people on the right days. I used to love the sections along the creek, and the large trees on the lower trail. But I don't recall any part where you had to do a "root ascent" with a rope aid, Kellbell. Has the trail become that degraded?

Indeed. I was shocked when I first read about it. There's a detailed report of the 2008 incident here with maps and photos (PDF download only).

There was a slide on the trail back in October I think the rope was put in to make the cut up the switchback less dangerous.

Kellbell Don't be embarrassed, I'm glad you posted your TR and link. Getting out anywhere is great - and this time of year, the options are limited. I'm not sure I will get to Lake 22 anytime soon, so viewing your TR was nice for me to check it out. Thanks for posting! up.gif
