I run into these structures often in my hiking around here:
Any idea what the purpose was for these buildings?
Any idea what the purpose was for these buildings?
Anyone know what their purpose was?

Cinder block and sloped roof is probably to withstand weather/snowload so I'm wondering if it's a tool shed of some sort for the logging project there..?

That looks like O.O. Denny Park. I know there was a cabin or two out there, so perhaps this was some kind of storage? Although I have seen another one of these in the woods at Blyth Park, so I'm curious too.

Denny Park is correct--and that is the name of the album from which I posted that photo. There is also one of these structures off the Beach Trail, north end, at St Edward Seminary state park.

I assumed that the one in Blyth Park is left over from the construction of the Tolt Pipeline, a pumphouse or something that is no longer used. But I'll admit my evidence is thin! hockeygrin.gif

I've hiked a lot of the pipeline--often on a crutch or two--and have seen a lot of those structures along the pipeline. Maybe i need to try the folks at Seattle City Water ....

There's some interesting history of O.O. Denny Park on HistoryLink The building looks like a generic pump house but the article describes most of the development of the original park in the 1920's and I doubt if that building is older than the 1950's. It's a mystery.

Thanks, I'd forgotten about that resource! I'll have to think of other resources for an ID of those blockhouses. Maybe the UW....
