Here is a short video about advice about determining how much food to take on a backpacking trip. It is just generalized advice, but can get you started down the road of planning food.

It's always the hardest thing to plan for a long trip and I don't think I've ever ended up with too much.

This is a BMR calculator I used to give me a "ballpark" number to work with when planning meals for hiking. I used it for my PCT hike two years ago and I did not lose or gain any weight on my PCT hike of Oregon, about 435 miles in 22 days. Everything was easy to calculate because I mailed all my resupply and knew everything that I had. I did have the big breackfast at Timberline lodge, a couple meals at Big Lake Youth Camp, and a couple burger w/fries meals along the way. Other than that I just ate my resupply food. Rumi
