Off a brand new EP. From some former residents of Tacoma.

I was really hoping the little girl would be handling lead vocals. Looks like a family having fun together, good stuff.

I totally missed it, but Gillian Welch and David Rawlings did some home recording last summer during the covid stuff. Some old standards, covering some of their favorite songwriters. I'm streaming it from Hoopla. It's hit and miss for me (David sings lead on several tracks and his voice just isn't as pleasing as Gillian's), but there are some gems in there. On their website it says about half of the tracks they got in one take. Those 2 are real pros.

Takes a couple of minutes to get rocking... Best comment “I’m 11 minutes late for everything because of this”:

My favorite Swedish folkie sisters going a bit rock on this one (I've seen them do covers of Heart and Black Sabbath).

I missed it at the time, but Hootie and the Blowfish returned after a long hiatus and dropped an album near the end of 2019. I've been streaming it from Hoopla, sounds pretty much like when they first arrived in the mid 90s. Darius has one of the warmest, most comforting voices I'm aware of.

Also streaming a greatest hits collection from Dokken (sadly missing my favorite song--"Heaven Sent"). They had some good stuff, seems like they were overshadowed by several other 80s hair metal bands and didn't receive the recognition they deserved. Don's got quite a voice and George shredded on the guitar.

Quite a time since I’ve seen a song set on The Dog.

Had my turntable repaired so I can play records. This morning its spinning Paul & Linda McCartney's Ram. 1971 was a good year for music.

Got this tune "stuck" in my head a couple of days ago and it's been with me since.

I feel like I've seen the name Dead Sara mentioned when people start talking about female vocalists in rock/metal, but never got around to checking them out. Just stumbled into them while playing around in You Tube. DAMN. Should've done that sooner. This woman can sing. I'm hearing a bit of echoes of Janis Joplin.
(from several of their songs I sampled, this is on the mellower side, kind of a Black Crowes/Spin Doctors thing going on, most of their stuff is edgier)
