My mother in law rode on that gas car as they called it for a whole summer when she worked there in high school (Granite Falls class of 39). She and a couple of buddies rode it out on Friday afternoon and came back Sunday night on the last car. She passed at 95 a couple of years back. Yes she had some stories about drunk miners and rowdy tourists. There was a nine hole gold course there then!
I really enjoyed seeing the photos from that era. We visit Big Four at least once a year. There are suggestions of what used to be there, but these photos show that it was a really big deal in its heyday.
