Do you have any shots down the west ridge of Iron Cap?
No shots but I followed the west ridge of Iron Cap on my route from the summit. Iron Cap was one of four peaks tagged that day. https://www.wta.org/go-hiking/trip-reports/tripreport-2002080408

I did that west ridge. I hated it. Never again. It just kinda gets worse and worse, with lots of exposure, and not much that is fun. I've done worse, but it was always to places that you can't get to any other way (and it was when I was younger). There is a boatload of fun, easy, rambling to be had in the area. I wouldn't recommend the ridge (just go around on the standard route) but I know there are thrill seekers out there that love it.

I took the west ridge with ruby dog (also based on Matt’s report) in mid July and didn’t have much difficulty. Had to give her a boost once IIRC.

Thanks all for the input and sorry for the thread-jacking. I feel confident now that this is well within my solo limit. Edit to add: @rubywrangler- in the pano you posted is that Big Snow on the skyline about the dog's head?

If not now, when?

No worries at all! Actually, it was really cool to see how many people chimed in with west ridge beta. It's great seeing the community come together like that and help someone out, and I have to admit it was nice to see rubywrangler's pano from her trip again. If you missed out on her report the first time it's worth a look, click here.

Haha I should've re-read my own report before commenting earlier! I guess the ridge was slightly more difficult than I remember clown.gif Man, I wish I had had a real camera on that trip!

Can you provide the DATE of this trip, so that we can appreciate the snow level information which makes the photos so valuable. I'm guessing early July ...

Mosquitoes refuse to bite me, purely out of respect.

Yes, it's in the title! July 20th through July 22nd, 2020. The conditions for this trip really were similar to what I'd expect in early July on an average year. That summer we had a lot of cloudy moody weather in June and July without many days of bluebird skies and direct sun. Combine that with a decent snowpack and conditions definitely felt a couple weeks behind their usual schedule.
