Just spotted this interesting article on this increasingly all-pervasive entity which controls our access to public lands. You may or may not agree, but at least it's worth a read! pmags on rec.gov

May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view.--E.Abbey

"Perhaps the pendulum will swing. When we don’t gut our agencies to make them look incompetent" BINGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Since I have no expectations of forgiveness, I don't do it in the first place. That loop hole needs to be closed to everyone.

Imagine how things might be different if those tens of millions of dollars went to the national parks (and hiring federally employed software engineers) instead of shareholders for a company turning billions in revenue every year. Recreation.gov is just a simple scheduling app... confused.gif We the people are on the losing side of this.

I've always wondered why we spend more money handing tasks out to good profit companies with not much disincentive to cut corners instead of just doing them right to begin with. This is a good example, and blatant corporate welfare too.
